He holds an HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and achieved the status of BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD).
Alan has also served as a director of the Fibreoptic Industry Association (FIA) and the UK Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), and chaired the Worktree charity for 12 years.

Warning – Never Use Internal Data Cable Externally
External grade data cables designed for outdoor use have a special jacket to withstand the elements. If a cable designed only for internal use is installed externally, sunlight and ice will break down the jacket over time and will let water in.
